In professional lawn care and pest control, the spray gun nozzle tip does more than simply release liquid—it shapes the pattern, controls coverage, affects drift, and helps determine how efficiently a technician can treat a property. For operators using GNC spray equipment, choosing the right nozzle tip can make the difference between fast, even application and wasted product.

Common nozzle types used with GNC spray guns

While exact configurations vary by application, the main nozzle tip categories relevant to professional lawn and pest control spraying are solid stream and shower head.


1. Solid stream nozzle tips

A solid stream (or jet stream) nozzle produces a concentrated flow designed for distance and pinpoint application.


This type is useful when an operator needs to:

  • reach higher foliage in tree treatment

  • apply product into cracks, edges, or targeted areas

  • minimize overspray in tight spaces


The biggest advantage of a solid stream is reach—it allows technicians to direct material where needed without blanketing surrounding areas. That makes it especially practical for spot applications or treating specific problem zones.


GNC’s Mag 1 Series spray guns, including the Mag 1 Original and Mag 1 Do-All, feature jet stream nozzle tips. The Mag 1 Original comes standard with a large nozzle tip, while the Do-All Kit includes the small, medium, large, and XL nozzle tips.

Additional tips sold separately are 2XL, 3XL, and 5XL.


Small = 0.3-0.5 GPM

Medium = 0.5-2 GPM

Large = 2-5 GPM

XL = 3-7 GPM

2XL = 6-11 GPM

3XL = 8-13 GPM

5XL = 9-24 GPM

 

Mag 1 Series spray guns also feature an adjustable barrel, allowing the applicator to pinpoint spray with a jet stream, then broaden coverage to a cone or even a fine mist.

 

2. Shower head nozzle tips

Shower head nozzle tips are best for low-pressure, broad coverage applications like spraying lawns. Depending on the size of the holes in the shower head, droplets will be fine, medium, or coarse. Finer droplets will coat more evenly while large, coarse droplets will have less drift.


The GNC Mag 2000 Lawn Spray Gun and the Mag 1 Do-All both come with three shower head nozzles designed for lawn applications.

Blue = 1-3 GPM

Yellow = 2-5 GPM

Green = 4-7 GPM

 

Nozzle tip maintenance

The entire spray system should be flushed with clean water at the end of every day to remove any residue or sticky debris. To keep your gun in top operating condition, routinely clean the nozzle tips with fresh water and gently scrub with a soft-bristle brush. For stubborn clogs, soak the nozzle tips in warm water with a mild detergent. Never use any sharp instruments to remove clogs as they could damage the nozzle tip and distort your spray pattern.

Before selecting a nozzle tip, operators should evaluate:

  • Target area size -- small, precise areas need different patterns than open coverage zones.

  • Desired reach -- taller trees and distant targets may need a tighter stream.

  • Job variety-- technicians doing multiple service types may benefit from adjustable nozzles.
